BITBUS - The International Fieldbus

BITBUS (background information here!)

BITBUS is an international fieldbus which is, due to its synchronous transmission (SDLC) on RS485 and NRZI encoding, a lot more rugged then asynchronous or bit-arbitrating fieldbusses.

While BITBUS has lost the marketing momentum of Intel as a big player, many companies all over the world continue to use BITBUS due to its reliability and ease of wiring. ELZET80 has ported the BITBUS protocol to several modern processors (like ARM) for state-of-the-art master and slave boards including PCIe and Ethernet.

Drivers support "Outstanding messages", up to 16 applications and up to 6 boards at a time
Arbitrary message lengths within the 250 bytes BITBUS spec
Master and slave operation on all nodes
User programming is available on all nodes, inclusive of user master tasks for alert managment and data aggregation
Nearly all ELZET80 boards can work as BITBUS nodes
